SEE YOUR CHALLENGES AS OPPORTUNITY

Distractions and problems are inevitable, don’t use them as an excuse – Smita Singh

Recently I read about a man named Charles Thomas, popularly known as Chuck Close. He is an American painter who rose to fame due to his work as a photorealist. Photorealism is a medium whereby the artwork is a realistic depiction of a photograph done with painting, drawing and other graphics works. As a child, Chuck suffered a neuromuscular condition, which is an ailment that impairs the functioning of the muscles, either directly or indirectly; dyslexia (reading disorder) for a while; prosopagnosia (face blindness) and a bout with nephritis (kidney inflammation). He was drawn to the profession due to his inability to recognize faces. At the height of his career he suffered from spinal artery collapse, a seizure that left him paralysed from neck down. All this diseases did not slow or affect his work in any way because he had made a choice to do things he had no facility to do.

If you impose a limit to not do something you have done before, it will push you to where you have never gone before - Chuck Close

Having read about this man, I would say that he turned his challenges and made them opportunities for himself. He went against every biological and medical deficiency his body threw at him and made something great. Challenges are an everyday part of life. It is left to either let them define and keep us bound or to see it as a chance to excel in many ways possible. This way, the obstacles we face, whether big or small, serve as stepping stones and spring boards for us to take great leaps into the next stages of our lives. When we face challenges, we gain more knowledge and experience that inculcate in us life-long lessons. We build our personality, grow tougher in the face of adversity and build resilience. Embracing our challenges and problems gives room for personal growth because we become better people knowing that we’ve come out on top in spite of all we face.

The difference between successful people and lightweights is the capacity to see challenges as things to be overcome and not as things that weigh them down and keep them from moving forward till they finally succeed. In their success journey while the latter get distracted by their challenges and make excuses and give reasons not to try, those who become successful actually focus and use those challenges, work with them, and make them into innovations that you and I talk about for ages.

You can either face a challenge from an helpless standpoint or take a powerful stand.
Learn to look out for the opportunities in every challenge. Challenges may seem impossible to surmount but remember no effort goes unnoticed. In the face of the issues of life, pull yourself together, take risks and do all in your power to overcome hurdles. Mistakes are not failure. They are opportunities for change and growth. No matter what happens to you, you alone have the capacity to live through it and turn it to an advantage. Take actions by removing obstacles, only through this can you succeed.

The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity, the optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty - Winston Churchhill.

Our life is filled with choices, choosing defeat or overcoming hurdles is optional. Always remain positive in the face of adversity and allow challenges to become the catalyst that sparks new opportunities in your life. Yesterday will remain the foundation of our knowledge where our today will be built. Fill today with hopes and dreams and learn to deal positively with people that have negative mindset.
