In contrast to the Theory of Causation, the Law of Accident maintains that life itself is a completely unpredictable occurrence. The majority of people still adhere to this notion, despite the fact that it runs counter to the Law of Cause and Effect.

There is a connection between the Law of Belief and this principle. Whether or not we have faith that something is true can have a role in determining whether or not we will ever have that experience.

The causes of accidents are a convoluted subject that has to be investigated in more depth in order to improve the chances of avoiding such mishaps in the future. This field of research suffers from a severe lack of theoretical backing, which is one of its primary weaknesses.

As a consequence of this, we cannot consider it to be a scientific discipline. In spite of this, it shows a lot of potential for the development of a theory in the future. Furthermore, theories are conceptual in nature, and as such, they can only provide some broad suggestions for the prevention and control of accidents.

These kinds of systems are known to exhibit complicated behaviour and are considered to be dominated even by the tiniest of stimuli. An ant colony that evolves to take advantage of improved food sources is a classic illustration of this phenomenon.

The idea that complex systems can evolve, as well as the notion that such systems exhibit emergence and connectedness, are both postulated by the theory of complexity. For example, in the corporate world, managers who take a hands-off style to management have the expectation that the organisation they oversee will establish its own organic patterns of order over time.

However, this type of model has the potential to fail due to the fact that it might lead to route dependence as well as negative emergence.

Complex systems are frequently more prone to error, which raises the stakes associated with those systems. This relationship between complexity and accidents was investigated by Perrow in his book Normal Accidents, in which he also stated that certain technologies are inherently harmful due to their level of complexity.
