The pain of not doing what you love. One word for my sister.

You Owe Yourself To Be Happy

I have always been of the opinion that happiness is subjective. No one or nothing can determine your happiness.

Whatever brings you happiness lies under your control to sustain it, also whatever takes away your happiness lies under your control to cut it off. Which ever way it is, it all depends on you to make yourself happy.
You owe yourself to be happy

I feel sad today not because of anything happening to me or things trying to steal my happiness away but because of my younger sister.

MEET MY SISTER

Lil Sis 20171021_183008.jpg

Her name is Rosemary and she is a bundle of great inspiration, motivation and talent. She is the founder of Medina Book Club Lagos, Nigeria's number 1 youth-centric book club. Checkout their twitter page here
While we grew up, i would watch her write stories, poetry and some times novels.
She was that good even as a kid and for everyone of us who took notice of this great quality and passion, it was clear what she would become.
Fast forward to this present day, my cute sister works in a bank where we both know kills her passion and desire for what she loves doing. Often times i spoke to her about the BUSINESS OF YOUR TALENT, (I hope to write a post about that soon) but she has refused to take the bull by the horn. I watch this great quality been chained in an environment where it can never be productive and it pains my heart.
So today, I was looking for a sheet of paper to put some things down and I meet her diary. I saw an interesting but heartbreaking writeup and I want to share it with you guys.
In her own words:

The Pain
I hate illiteracy, I am pained when i meet children and young people who cannot read or write properly.
I love to read and write, I enjoyed reading... Infact I used to save up to buy books and curl up on a sofa or my bed and get teleported to another world. Then I got a job and reading became impossible, writing was obviously no longer happening.

Never abandon your passion, what you love doing for some thing that pays you penny to forgo your dream.

If your passion brings you happiness then why let it go?

When all is said and done and you find yourself in your old age, would you look back and be happy that your life was a fulfilled one?

What is keeping you away from pursuing your dream?

It happens to all of us at one point or another. We call it COMPROMISE. When our dreams and talent are not putting food on the table other then means looks viable. It takes grace to pursue that dream to the end.

It happens but it takes courage and determination for one to follow his/her dreams. It doesn't come easy but we owe yourselves that. It is the only way we can affect our environment with joy in our hearts.

I will only say we should strive to be passionate about everything we do only then would we achieve that inner satisfaction.

Your Passion keeps you alive. The day you stop working in that line you start feeling useless.

Exactly @mimidiamond. You start feeling cheated by your own self.

Passion keeps one alive. The knowledge that you affect lives in a way you so love.

Very inspirational! Upvoted :)

I mentioned this same thing earlier. It just saddens me to hear when people don't use the talents or gifts they have. Misery is the worst way to live. I have been there and I felt like dying.

Dying because I wasn't in a job that valued my creativity. So I made a conscious but tough decision to take back my energy and fight to live the life of a creator.

Keep encouraging your sister. Don't stop believing in her. Be there for her no matter what and keep fanning her flames. It makes a world of difference when you have someone to support you and believe in you. I really enjoyed reading this.
