Three Tips For Memorization Made Easy

One of the most effective ways to improve your memory is to practice writing down things you want to remember. Writing down things will make them stick in your brain because you'll be more focused on the present than on what you'll have to recall later. Writing something down will also increase the concentration of the reticular activating system, which is the part of the brain that gets stimulated when we're alert. People naturally forget facts that they don't really care about like historical facts, in-law's name, or anything else they don't want to remember later.

Use the Method of Loci. This technique helps people associate words with locations. They can memorize certain rooms in their house or a landmark on the way to work. By rearranging the information in a logical manner, they can also remember it in chronological order. Using this technique, politicians have been able to recall a speech from memory. For example, Greek politicians used visual storytelling to remember speeches, so they would visualize each shelf of a grocery store.

Make flash cards. Flash cards are another useful tool for memorization because students can test themselves at anytime. These cards can be easily carried with them and can be studied anywhere. Create flash cards by writing down key principles on index cards. Using these cards helps you memorize important information. By using flash cards, you can test yourself whenever you need to review a topic. You can use them anywhere to practice what you've learned.
