OMG!!! Guess whose program I attended this past weekend!! It was Folorunso Alakija leadership excellence conference; the richest African/Black woman in the world. She is a business woman, a fashionista, a mentor for the youths, a pastor, a writer and a philanthropist. She was invited to Ibadan for an empowerment program and it was held at Trenchard hall on the 28th of April,2018.Goossh!! She is so beautiful, did I just mention beautiful? She is also unique and amazing more than what I usually hear or see on social media. No wonder people do say, 'do not judge a book by its cover'.
Folorunso Alakija has dedicated her life to serving God, rendering help to the needy and she's so passionate about empowering the youth especially because they are the future leaders. She's a great source of inspiration for many Nigerian youths, a role model to many and with this first encounter I have had with her, I must say she's down to earth. She's a motivational speaker and she spoke on "MAXIMIZING YOUR LIFE"as that was the theme of the program held on Saturday. She went further by telling us what maximizing one's life means, stressing that it is an ability to make a difference by influencing those around you positively and also living a fruitful life. She took the liberty of taking us through the scriptures(proverb 3-5 which says :Trust in the LORD with all your heart, Never rely on what you think you know).
Folorunso Alakija dished out some basic nuggets in maximizing our life such as;
1.Making God your number one priority
- Knowing what you want to achieve in life
- Education doesn't end in the four walls of a classroom(never get tired of learning)
4: Be a blessing to the world
5: Enjoy life
6: Believe in your dreams
7:Build string synergy (alliances) around you
She spoke with so much strength and confidence. What got me surprised was that she stood for over 2 hours on the podium encouraging the youth not to give up. Really?? At the age of 67?? She sure deserves some accolades.
Over 2000 youths where in attendance, with some featured guests and a question-and-answer session. Her presentation stuck a chord in me and I must confess, I felt so privileged to be a part of the conference.
