People will often hold on to their past to protect themselves but I also feel if something if toxic but in the past then move on and live in the present.

I try to live by this every other day. We are immortal humans. Alive today and dead tomorrow , its makes no sense to live our short lived existance hating someone or keeping a grudge, you know . I wish more people would understand that.
I had a best friend who did me very wrong. Prior to that, we were insperable. Her mother loved us and i loved her too, sweetest woman!.
But because of the grudge i had with my friend, all ties to the family were cut. She tried reaching out to me , apologized but i still shut her out. I was still very bitter and saw her as Judas. Years went by and we lost touch, went our separate lives. Then one day,i received a call from a mutual friend that our friends mother has passed away. She was the only daughter, super loved and spoilt by her mom.
When i heard the news, i symphathized with my "was" bff, i understood the pain she was feeling and most of all, was reminded once again of how short life is. I felt the need to reach out to her but it seemed soo difficult, especially we parted ways but i had too.
Its ok to cut out people who dont add value to ur life, but best to cut off the ties in a diplomatic way. So that 10-15 years later when life happens and u need each other, it will not be difficult to reach out.
Even if down life lane you dont need each other anymore, good memories of each other should prevail.
God help me to have the heart of practising this, even to some undeserving people.
Also help me to avoid rubbibg people in the wrong way.

Mostly adults will take us forever, to forgive and forget.
Sometimes healing from inside is the most difficult ones to let go
