In the language of positive psychology, resilience is the ability to deal with difficult situations, learn from them, and finally get through them.
How do success and toughness work together? How important are the reasons we give for our successes and how we react to them?
People who are sure of themselves usually think that their successes are due to their hard work and dedication. They don't mind getting help from others and working together to reach the goal that was set.
This awareness is a key part of being able to think resiliently. When we admit that our participation can help us succeed, we feel more confident and can better visualise ourselves reaching our goals, seeing them as possibilities that are more in line with what we already know.
Because of this, we are better prepared to deal with mistakes and other setbacks, learn from them, and move on with confidence because we know we can get through them.
On the other hand, we lose all faith in ourselves when we think that our success is due to luck, since luck is based on chance rather than hard work.
Being successful is linked to being sure that we can make the most of certain situations, even if we don't have a lot of luck. We can move on and deal with the effects of our mistakes when we take responsibility for what we did incorrectly.
Even though it might not seem important, it is much better to take a moment to enjoy this success before moving on to something else.
Take out a pencil and paper and write down three important, great events that happened in the last two years that you think are important.
Did you really believe you could finish this job before you began?
How do you explain what went wrong when you've reached your goal?
After reading your three descriptions, do you notice any trends in how you explain them?
What were you going to do each time?
Do you think this has anything to do with how your parents or other important people in your life saw your success? This question wants you to think about how people who have been good examples to you have described success and how that may have affected how you think and act.
When we do things that are in line with our strengths and interests, we feel like we have control over what we're doing. This makes us feel better mentally and physically and gives us a stronger sense of control and ownership over what we've done.
People who are resilient are willing to take on tasks that are sometimes outside of their comfort zones. They also have the patience and persistence to see things through to the end.
Because they are so focused on their flaws and worries, many people forget almost all the things that make them happy.
When things get tough, though, we need to remember to keep things in balance and make time for things that make us feel strong, happy, and satisfied, like when we accomplish something.
