It was certainly a day of highs and lows for Justin Hill this weekend at round nine of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series at Washougal. This was Hills home event so it was no surprise when he was super fast in qualifying with the second fastest of the day. When the gate dropped in the 450 MX first moto he wasted no time and both JGR Suzukis were at the front of the entire pack and riding strong. He finished the race in a 450 MX career best of fourth which is pretty amazing when you think he was riding a 250 a few rounds ago. Bad luck struck though in the second moto and Hill has released a statement which explains what happened.

"Qualifying went well and I was very comfortable on the Suzuki RM-Z450. I had a great start in the first moto, but expended too much energy trying to get around my teammate. I was smoked by the time I was in third place. I learned quite a bit by being up front with those guys. Then, while running third in the second moto, I had a huge crash. It was a strange deal where I landed sideways in some ruts. I tried to blast out of it and straighten up the bike, but by doing that I swapped even harder and flew straight into a tree. I've definitely felt better than I do right now. My left knee is swollen up almost as big as a volleyball right now. It seems that I am just tough enough to not get broken, but I'm wimpy enough to get hurt every time I hit the ground."

If you think it sounds bad enough... Someone managed to capture it on camera... ouch!

Justin Hill - Crash Washugal

It will be a welcome release for the Autotrader/Yoshimura/Suzuki ride that he now has an extra weekend off to take advantage of. His status for round ten at Undilla is still unsure but i will update you guys as and when i receive this information. Hill has to be please with his progress so far though since his move up from the 250 MX class at round four. He is already ninth in the premier 450 MX class and only eighty five points from eighth, pretty decent for a maiden season i think! Heal up mate and get back soon.
