Doug Henry To Ride Opening Lap At 2019 Southwick Pro Motocross National!

Hello Everyone,
This weekend kicks off the 39th running of the MX338 Southwick Pro Motocross National. I think I have been to about 20 of the 39 Races. So I spent the week with my good friend Doug Henry preparing for his Parade Lap around the Track to kick off the Race! I can still remember a little over 10 years ago after his Supermoto Injury in Florida he had to take his Parade Lap in a Mule with Southwick's other favorite son John Dowd! Now this year he will be back riding his Yamaha! It is amazing how much Doug has accomplished and overcome in his life! I cant tell you how much that man inspires me and just about everyone i know in the Motorcycle Industry. I have been fortunate to have grown up about 20 minutes from Doug and have been there though all of his Good and Bad times. But the one thing he told me that still sticks with me to this day was

"No matter how bad the future looks, no matter how many people say you can't, ultimately it is up to you to create your own destiny!"-Doug Henry

Here are some of the never before seen photos of Doug Henry at my shop and Riding at our Indoor Training Facility a few weeks before his accident.

Grand Opening of my shop at Mototown USA with both Southwick Legends John Dowd and Doug Henry!

But these two pictures are my absolute favorite. I was just a kid when the first one was shot and it made me decide to take Racing seriously so I could one day be just like Doug. I know that sounds like a cliche but come on I was in elementary school.

This one is famous across the world. I still remember the day his Doctors told him he would never Race agai. Boy were they wrong. I still keep this poster in my office to remind myself that no matter how hard things get you always have the chance to overcome them if you really want to!

Well I hope you enjoyed this little tribute to AMA Hall of Famer Doug Henry and if any of you are at Southwick this weekend look for the CBM Racing Tent and RV. I will introduce you to Doug Henry, John Dowd, Ryan Dowd, Robbie Marshall and any other Racer you want as long as they have the time.

Cheers

Wow great post about the the best guy in all Motorsports. He has overcome so much and is still such a nice and optimistic guy. I can still remember the FOX video with him training at his house with his wife and Elvis. "You gotta rev that throttle you gotta rev it like you never revved it before right over that triple jump" ha those words will be ingrained in my head until the day I die. Great post I hope they show him on his custom made bike doing the opening lap on Saturday. Have you ever ridden his track that was in the FOX video? Just curious you dont have to answer. Thanks again for the great content I hope you post more!

Hey thanks for the comment. Ya I loved that movie when I was a kid. To answer your question yes I rode that track. He lived in Oxford CT at the time out in the middle of the woods you had to drive like a mile in on this sketchy dirt road to reach his house. Then he moved and has a really sweet track. I cant believe how fast he is he beats me and I have the use of my legs! I swear if he was about 15 years younger he would still be able to qualify for a Pro race in his current condition. Thanks again for the comment
