Si Yamaha va con cierto retraso con su moto de 2018, en Ducati tampoco van avanzados. Así lo reconoció el propio Gigi dall'Igna. "La GP18 no está en la rampa de lanzamiento. La tenemos que probar antes de definir la configuración de la moto que estará sólo lista para Sepang En Valencia se verá un prototipo que nos permitirá hacer las últimas elecciones antes de definir la moto de 2018", comentó en referencia a que no se verá la versión definitiva hasta los primeros test oficiales del próximo año. Con ello descarta que se vea en los ensayos del Ricardo Tormo posteriores al gran premio
