Andes mountains on Kawasaki KLX 250

Motorcycle traveling can be one of the most satisfying experiences you can get, i started my trip on last month from Colombia capital, Bogotá to Santander, just in the middle of the Andes mountains,

Here is my baby, carburated 2013 KLX250

i did a main mod of the exhaust system and rejet carb with dynojet stage 1

This thing is really helpful to derestrict the engine and give a lot more of power than stock exhaust system, also, sound is great

Also im using Metzeler Sahara enduro III tires for good grip, about 50/50 on-off road

Trip started at Bogotá, capital city of Colombia, mostly highway in 2800meters above sea level plains at 7-12C degrees
Day started with a nice pink sky about 5am
and we descend to 1200M until i reach my first destination, Bucaramanga (17-22 C degrees)

A nice city, but you need to go ahead, again yo start to ascending into the mountains, the higher place is Páramo de los Picachos again in andes mountains, about 4.000M in companion of my cousin in the yellow Suzuki jimny

i'ts a high plain with temperatures about 2-7 C degrees on day but it never get under zero at night,

Plains are vastly and beautiful, a cold place to live but peaceful as any other

We keep descending again from Los Picachos to Santander mainland in Garcia Rovira department, mostly agricultural place where spanish company Sacyr is about to finish one of the higher bridges in Latin America, Lisgaura Bridge in Ortices rural zone

From this place, you start a route inside the mountain in a only-4x4 vehicles road until reaching Ortices Lagoon, one of the most interesting places of the trip, because it's one of the few lagoons in low altitude, Most of lagoons are above 2000-3000 in paramo, but this one is about 1000m and it lays over a bed of rock with a crack in the middle where the water comes from

This is Ortices Lagoon

It was the finish of the 4th day of travel from Bogotá.
We rest that night in a near colonial town, Guane, it's known for having a LOT of fossil specimen around the tow, even in it's central park you can see Amonite and Trilobyte embedded in rocks

Aldo found a live specimen :p

Our travel continued to Paramo Cruz de Piedra, an high place just in front of Cocuy mointain ranges (in front, about 200km ahead)

Road was a little bit tricky

But it totally worth it, getting the peak you just have a moment to contemplate vast land extension, it's a peaceful place at 4000m and about 2 Degrees

Here, started to descending again, ant it was the finish of the first part of our trip i hope you enjoyed as much as me, Santander it's a beautiful place to visit.
