Motorcycle Adventure Tours

We have finally started our Motorcycle Touring business in Mossel Bay South Africa.
We have had such a wonderful experience getting to know the roads around Mossel Bay and so many awesome people.

Let me share some of my adventures we like to call "Guinea Pig Tours".

We mainly stick to the gravel roads and make use of the XR190CT motorcycle. They are light and easy to handle. They go anywhere hahaha so fun to ride! They have a bonus feature of two kickstands so you can literally stop anywhere!

We have ridden so many passes...where to start?

The Montaqu Pass

Very lush an tropical vegetation, build by Thomas Bain. This pass has quite a few hairpin turns, and every turn is just absolutely beautiful. It takes about 30min to ride and is not to difficult but there is a lot of traffic, its a very popular pass.

The Swartberg Pass
This must be one of the most spectacular passes you will ever ride. Also build by Thomas Bain. The path takes you up on side of the mountain where you reach a plateau and then down the other side, but what makes this different is that the South side its more green and lush while the Northern side is more Karoo and semi desert. There is a bonus road that is in the center part of this pass called the Elands Pass or the Du Plessis Pass which leads to a very special place called the Hell in Gamkaskloof. It is considered one of the most dangerous roads in South Africa. The Elands Pass is 48km and takes about an hour and a half to complete. Once you reach The Hell you can relax at the only little shop that is owned by a local couple, here you can camp or sleep in one of the caravans, or you can turn right back around and go back to the Swartberg Pass the way you came in. Yes there is only one way in and out. If you do decide to stay you can visit the Heritage site that is another few km's in. There is also a trail you can walk that leads to a dam where you can have a swim. It's hot during the day but can get very cold at night.

The Rooiberg Pass
Now this Pass was my very first pass to ride ever. It was difficult as I am not an experienced rider. The corners are sandy and there are loose rocks going down hill, you will also see all sorts of great landscapes and mountains in the distance. This pass starts/ends in Van Wyksdorp and ends/starts near Carlitzdorp. Also a favorite ride in South Africa. Climate is dry and hot, and cold in the evening. I will not recommend this for a inexperienced rider...![picture 13.jpg]

The Tradow Pass
Very beautiful pass that is tar road, easy ride and places to stop and take some pictures. There is a natural "drupkelder" where water drips from the mountain.
