My ducati monster is a 2006 vintage and I've owned it since 2008. It's an old bike but it's still a blast to ride, except it's starting to break down after all those years. About 8 years ago, I took the bike on a track day and crashed out. The speedometer was never the same after that and 3 years ago it finnaly gave up and I've since left it to a state of disrepair. Today though, I opened her up and decided to figure out what's wrong.

Stepper motor number X15-689 was damaged and needed replacing! A little bit of research found that the stepper motor has been updated and superceded by X27-689.

It wasn't a hard part to find, except it's going to take 3 weeks for it come from China! Cost? $8.00 each. There are a few USA sellers, but their charging $20 each and I need two of them. Oh well, I've got a transmission to install in my bmw, so I don't have much time to ride anyway!

Patience. I need to start learning how to fix cars. I wanna get my dads suburban up and running again. Or pay someone else to do it.

unless you have a boat load of time, or the person is charging too much...

pay someone else to do it.

I only started fixing bikes and cars cause I couldn't afford to pay someone else to do it. Then it just didnt stop. In some sense its great because I could always fix shit for a living AND I can literally fix anything that can be fixed with basic tools. But then you start to realize that your time is better spent doing something that can make you more money in your actual profession.

Except I don't make enough money to pay someone to fix shit that I break! Maybe I should just buy new...

At this point it’d be more like a hobby if I took it on. So I’d just take my sweet old time. Otherwise I just need to find a trustworthy mechanic cuz my dad would just pay to play. Or drive. Without really doing too much hw.

its a cool hobby. Maybe you need to buy a 1960s muscle car. That would be a fun project if you really wanted one. After i get the BMW up, I have the 1966 Mercedes to work on. Thats gonna be the shore-mobile!

Yeah I’ve actually been thinking of that for a while. Mustang or corvette would be cliche but cool.

not a corvette fan. but an old pony? thats a dream one day. Id throw in a classic ford 302 and BLOW IT UP (supercharged). one day...

My input for you to recouple soon friend! A motorbike is necessary for our work.
