Too many people today are committing the Motte-and-Bailey Fallacy, which is when someone conflates two positions that share similarities, one that’s reasonable and easy to defend (the "motte") and the other more controversial or debatable (the "bailey").
I’ve seen it frequently when people say you don’t care about black lives if you disagree with the policies of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation.
It’d be like saying that if you don’t support the policies or messaging of Feminists for Life, a pro-life feminist group, then you oppose feminism and life in general.
So, don’t commit the Motte-and-Bailey fallacy. Nuance exists. Context matters.
