Hi steemit peeps. This is my first post in steemit and my first ever blog, pardon me for my grammar error. Lol. Anyway I'm from Philippines and I'd like you to know that Philippines is a great country of people, culture and environment. But for now I'm here not to promote my country. Lol.
For my first blog I'd like to share my experience with hiking in the Philippines. It's not my first hike but my 7th and this hike is my experience in Mt. Ulap. I'm from Manila and traveling to Mount Ulap, Benguet will take you 4 hours to travel if you have private car and 7 hours if you take a bus ride. To give you an idea I took a screenshot from google map and it was quite accurate.
Moving forward we drive from Manila along with other minor hiker around 11pm with a private van and we arrive there at 3 am. This was my first hike in northern region of Philippines and i was Thrilled. It was so cold when we arrived in our destination. We had an stop over in a basketball court and prepare before proceeding in our hike We started our hike around 4 am and it's quite freezing outside and dark. So you have to prepared your own flashlight and jacket. We have our own tour guide so we don't have problem getting lost in the woods. Lol. this is the view of Baguio city from the foothills of Mount Ulap its quite astonishing in real life but my phone shot is quite unappreciated. After walking for hours sunrise can be seen around 5:30 am the view was astonishing and beautiful. Pine trees was all around and fresh air filled up everywhere. after few hour of walk we arrived on the first peak and the sky was clear until the cloud start to cover our place stone tower can be found on the first peak. lol I know it symbolizes grave site for some in Japan or Korean if I'm correct. Moving forward we proceed and continue more for few hours walking. This is the first ever mountain I never experienced being tired. Air is flowing all around and slope was not that steep so if you're a inexperience or beginner I'd like to recommend this on your bucket list. Believe me you're going to enjoy it. i was kinda observer too I found this pitcher plant on one of the peak of the mountain i like to pick and grow some in my yard but just let it go lol. Photos and memories are more powerful than anything. this are the photos along the valley going to second peak. After few minutes of walk we arrived on the second peak lol I just found out I don't have quite pictures here my battery is started to drop but here are some shot I got lol I can't believe there are cows in these part of the mountain . A few hour walk and we arrived on the peak of mount Ulap around 9:30 am we spend few hours and rest on the peak I don't have much photo at this point cause my battery is now really low. photos during our descend to the peak it's around 11:30 am after walking for few minutes we had an stop over in a store in the middle of the mountain. lol it's not bizarre to found out store in the middle of nowhere here in Philippines. They are there to cater the hikers need such as supply and souvenirs. Sadly I don't have photos of any store. We continue to walk traverse until we arrived at the part of mountain where all pine trees have been burnt out sadly the cause of fire was unknown and with the aid of local people the fire was stopped from burning more trees. We can smell the burn pine bark all around. We arrived at the other side of the mountain around 2:30 pm and return to Baguio City for early dinner around 5:30 pm. I apologize for having no more picture this time because by battery is dead.
Overall we spend around 10 hours ascending and descending the mount Ulap. It's a great experience and I hope I could go back there with some of my friend in the near future.
