A New challenge by @keithboone

You can enter a photo, poem, story, or anything you have relating to mountains! You can drop your link in the comments here- MountainMonday

I am a flatland prairie girl, so maybe these don't actually qualify as mountains, but they seemed pretty mountainous to me! Plus, I've been looking for a reason to share them.

These were taken on a drive down into the west end of the Grand Canyon from Peach Springs, Arizona going down to the Colorado River.

We drove on the unpaved road much of the day only to be disappointed to not be able to reach the Colorado because of a sudden rain storm. The road started turning into a small river and since we had no cell service and had not seen another person all day, and the sun was setting, we decided it was foolish to continue on.

It was a grand canyon adventure!

I didn't know about this challenge. I like it and I like your photos too, great job!

It's brand new today! Thanks.... I wanted to squeeze an entry in while there was still an hour or two left of Monday here!

Maybe I'll join next time.

Wonderful mountains the Grand Canyon are i made a trip out there a few years back and it was actually snowing on top of the mountains never forget that adventure will have to dig them photos out of my gallery and do a post on it :)

The Canyon is such an incredible place. I would love to see your photos

It was absolutely mind blowing to see this place i will do a post on it real soon :)

Beautiful place, I would call them mountains. It all in perspective with sizes of things. Glad you turned around or that you did not get washed away.
Love

Awesome photos. If you get far enough in the canyon, I think they count as mountains :) We went on 4x4 passes in Colorado lots when I was younger. Many have been closed to jeeps now and you have to hike in.

howdy there melinda010100! wow what fun but I think you made the wise decision to head back! Did you guys have a 4 wheel drive?

Yes, we did! image

And we sold it as soon as we got home from that trip out west. Around here you couldn't even park the thing in a grocery store parking lot space! We had fun with it out West though!

ha! what in the world? why can't you park it there? That's the typical vehicle here in Texas, we're really odd because we don't have one yet!

I think the lanes in the parking lots must be narrower? At least it felt that way and we were tired of backing up twice to get into a parking spot!

howdy again Melinda! oh I see, yes that's a big rig but a nice one! what have you done today besides sell monster cards and post twice at least, hey that's the whole day isn't it? Especially when you throw some commenting in there!

And watch the Packers pull off a brilliant win! That was the best accomplishment of the day!

oh did they? that's great! so THAT'S what you been doing the rest of the day, that's totally understandable. lol. Roger's is playing and healthy this year?

It was a tied game and they won with a field goal in the last 3 seconds. It was a nail biter. Yeah Rogers is playing great. He has an injured knee and is wearing a brace but he still does his magic.

Looks like a great trip. Even though I leave near some real mountains, some of my favorite pics and videos are in the foothills!

I agree that the tree covered foothills are often just as lovely as the barren rocky slopes!

I call those mountains for sure! I love the erosion patterns on the rocks. It's a good thing you didn't continue driving down that dirt road, you could have run into a flash flood!

Thanks for contributing to MountainMonday! resteemed :)

We were aware of the danger and knew we had to get out of there but we were so disappointed to have to stop short of the river with only a mile or so to go!

mountain is very beautiful, very interesting story

Wow, new challenge!!! Incredibly gorgeous shots Melinda! These mountains are like no other 🌸💖🌸

Thanks, Lena! I look forward to seeing the enteries for this Monday challenge!

Always a pleasure my Dear.......I see if I find time to check at least some of them 😊

very good images Some of my dreams are with the big canyon. It would be amazing to be there. Although here in my country venezuela there are nice things like the angel jump and the bolivar peak. although I really do not know them

The Grand Canyon is truly breathtaking. I hope you get to visit some day!

We are blessed out here in the west with amazing geology. Cool pictures. I'm glad you were able to see them in person and not get washed away! Did you find any rocks while you were out here?

Jim told me that if I brought home any more he would need a bigger truck. But I did not have the necessary knowledge to do more than find ones I thought were pretty! Wish I could do that entire trip all over again

Mountains and trees are just so beautiful to look at just a awesome piece of mother nature. To visit the Grand Canyon has always been a dream of my and it is on my bucket list.
