Unlike cold sore blisters, canker sores do not occur on the lips and are not contagious. The main symptom is painful sores in the mouth that can make it difficult to eat and talk. Most canker sores clear up on their own within one to two weeks. Treatment, if needed, includes mouth rinses, ointments, and medications. Canker sores are generally harmless. It seems that almost everyone has experienced thrush. Although generally harmless, canker sores can be very annoying. The reason is because of thrush a person becomes difficult to talk, eat, and even drink. Recurrent thrush can also be a sign of some serious illnesses, such as Crohn's disease, celiac disease, colitis, HIV infection and nutritional deficiencies. With proper examination, this disease can be identified. If detected early, these diseases can be treated immediately.
