If you don't where this phrase has come from then you haven't seen the Truman show. You probably should, it is a bit lighthearted entertainment. I was also expecting Truman to triumph.
In short The Truman show is about one man whom is the star of a television show that runs 24/7. Only thing is he doesn't know, everyone and everything around him is either part of the stage or an actor put there by the producers or the sponsors of the show.
There are cameras everywhere, and his whole life since the day he was born has been on air, and rating well. Nothing of course lasts forever. Therefore it is to be somewhat expected that Truman learns the truth, which of course comes as a shock.
How would you react if everything you knew was a lie and you had been manipulated to ensure high ratings? After he learns the truth, Truman wants out. Being a Hollywood film it is not real surprise that he succeeds. Hence, this movie is a bit of fun to fill in a bit of time.
Great movie this one.
