I am treated with this action movie by a suggestion from my wife as she says she heard good things about it. She just wants to see a movie that day that is not too deep and boring. With her urging, and recommendation we decided to watch the movie together.
The movie Cold Pursuit is Liam Neeson's brand of an action movie with a dash of intelligent humor. If you're a fan of Liam's action movies which started to rise to superstar status with the movie "Taken", you will like this movie plus more.
A violent, straight to the point approach of serving justice. Liam Neeson delivers the same intensity and the movie plot inserts their own flavor of dark comedy that brings out a different taste for the film.
Humor that is not laugh-out-loud kind of thing but keeps you entertained and asking for more. It is a story of a quiet family man, even receiving the award as Citizen of the Year turns into a vigilante seeking justice for the murder of his son.
Cold Pursuit is rightly titled with the backdrop of the plot's location and the temperament of a quiet man. He turned into a vigilante because of his deep love for his only son who was murdered. His actions and the way he dispatched his nemesis are also cold and calculated. Entertainingly straightforward.
It sets the story in a chilling snowy ski resort, the main character Nels Coxman plays the role of a snowplow driver. His community appreciates him of doing his job faithfully for many years, he becomes a pillar of the society because he is reliable, consistent, and dutiful in performing his duties year in year out.
The spiral of events begins when his son was murdered. His son Kyle was working at the airport and was murdered by a syndicate of drug dealers due to a missing cocaine delivery. Worse, he was framed by a cocaine overdose, implicating his son to be a junkie and died because of it.
The movie has a somewhat humorous declaration every time someone is killed. It flashed on the screen the name complete with their aliases and a religious symbol of man's religion, like an epitaph on the grave. The movie is adapted from a novel that has an interesting title In Order of Disappearance.
You will also be amused by many interesting henchmen and underworld characters introduced along in the movie. The main antagonist played by Tom Bateman as the cartel's psychopathic leader, drug lord Trevor "Viking" Calcote is also despicable but funny and engaging. Even with his outrageous antics and low intelligence he can send some weird smile on your face.
I can say, the movie is entertaining, with some surprises that it can mark deserving applause to the senses. Great watch. I can say I like the action sequences and the dark humor.
