Last night I was watching this movie , where father of lead actress was telling her to marry a certain guy who was wealthy , but the actress was not ready to do so now, though being engaged to that guy. As she had recently met the lead actor ,with whom she had fallen in love, now she was reconsidering her previous engagement. Cliché. Her father was trying hard to make her change her mind , so much so that at one point he even tells her that he used to have an affair with an another woman and he was happy with her but he chose family over his happiness , so that family did not suffer. For which lead actress bluntly tells him that he was wrong even then, he should have gone for his own happiness and family would have have adjusted to even that. Which is fairly right in broader sense. But I realized that the actor portraying the father was an average actor, one who couldn't even convince the audience that he made sacrifices for the family. I think the director deliberately chose an average actor so that the script could move to desired climax . A great actor would have sabotaged whole love story by belittling the recklessness or impracticality of the choice of the lead actress. Or at least could have convincingly pointed out flaws in her future plans, by putting her choice under the test of reality. But its just a movie.
