Bee movie review
Bee Movie "stars a very talented vocal cast led by Jerry Seinfeld, Mathew Broderick and Renee Zellweger. This animated film is set in New York City, where a bee named Barry leaves his hive to explore the outside world.
Barry B. Benson (Jerry Seinfeld) just graduated from college with boyfriend Adam Flayman (Mathew Broderick). After Barry realizes that he will be working with the same job for the rest of his life, he decides to explore outside the hive before he has a chance. Once Barry leaves the hive he breaks a very important bee rule: never talk to humans. He meets a human named Vanessa Bloome (Renee Zellweger), who saved his life. The two become close friends, but Barry soon discovers that the humans have stolen honey from bees for profit. He decides to sue the human race for stealing their honey.
Jerry Seinfeld adds a bit of witty humor to a well-behaved story about bees that will amuse even those who aren't Jerry Seinfeld fans. This is a step towards great entertainment that adults will enjoy just as much as children. Not a moment is dull in this sweet gift from a movie. While there are some moments that are absolutely ridiculous, they are overlooked considering all the animated misfires made this year. It is one of the best animated films of the year.
Bee Movie has all the special ingredients that make these movies bearable for adults. He has a few big laughs strewn throughout the movie. Jerry Seinfeld delivers a worthy family movie that features plenty of clever moments. “Bee Movie” is funny, witty, and as sweet as honey.
A nifty little animated film which, in my humble opinion, spices up "Ratatouille". "Bee Movie" is sure to appeal to kids and adults alike with its clever ideas. Funny at times and has a talented cast. Build a buzz around those who found "Ratatouille" boring.
Beowulf movie review
"Beowulf" stars Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, John Malkovich, Robert Wright Penn, Brendan Gleeson, Crispin Glover, Alison Lohman and Angelina Jolie. The film takes place in a village disturbed by a beast. It is an adventure / fantasy that will only be amazed by its new era of animation.
"Beowulf" begins with the village having a loud party that stirs up the town beast, who has sensitive ears and is called Grendal (Crispin Glover). The King (Anthony Hopkins) is tired of the destruction that Grendal has caused the city and calls in the hero Beowulf (Ray Winstone). Beowulf then agrees to kill the beast. After his encounter with Grendal ends with Grendal missing an arm, Beowulf is unaware that the Beast has an angry mother (Angelina Jolie) he has to deal with after killing Grendal.
"Beowulf" puts the awesome animation that was used for "The Polar Express" to bloody good use. The problem with Beowulf is the remarkably bad dialogue that produces some involuntary laughs (?). It was difficult to say if Robert Zemeckis was trying to make the film satirical on purpose. The only way to see this movie is in theaters because the animation wouldn't look as good on DVD. Extremely entertaining as far as the visuals go.
Another major problem with "Beowulf" is the ending, which I call a moose thief. It may have something to do with the story, but with such a slow ending to such a quick movie, the conclusion is disappointing. As far as the animation goes, it's the best I've seen all year. It is a huge leap forward from the poorly written and poorly executed "Polar Express", but it still has its flaws that persist.
"Beowulf" is a visually captivating cinematic experience. There are two things I couldn't help but dwell on. One is ridiculously bad dialogue, and the other is the ending takes the energy out of the film. I have to say that this film has one thing to recommend, it is an animation of exciting beauty, and therefore fails as a whole.
