Who is THE SENTRY- Marvel Comic Character, in a nutshell

Marvel Cinematic Universe fans, here's something to think about. If Captain Marvel (played by Brie Larson) is the strongest character yet to be introduced in the MCU and the upcoming film starring her is said to be set in the 90s, where was she during the events of the Chitauri attack, Ultron attack, and the Hydra takeover of SHIELD?

Kevin Feige said during an interview that "she's out there" and people were quick to think that she's in outer space, after all she's Captain Marvel. Then again, why didn't she help the Guardians versus Ronan The Accuser who's out to destroy planets?

Also, this does not make sense as someone of her power level would surely have come to Nick Fury's mind when he's forming The Avengers. Why also wasn't she even ever mentioned / referred to in the MCU?

The answer perhaps lies in another Marvel Comics character: The Sentry.

In a nutshell, Sentry is basically Superman on steroids, if that still makes any sense. A man with the power of a thousand exploding suns. He's a pretty new character introduced during 2010's New Avengers and was retconned into past Marvel storylines.

Basically, The Sentry used to be a meth addict, who stole an experimental super soldier secret formula that gives him the power of a thousand exploding suns. With this power, he became one of Earth's most powerful and celebrated heroes.
While he's really darn powerful, he's also mentally unstable, so to speak. And this instability manifests in an equally powerful but malevolent being called The Void. During one of its manifestations, The Void rampaged and killed a million people. As he deduced that he and The Void are one being, The Sentry had Doctor Strange and Mister Fantastic wipe the world and Sentry's memories of his powers and heroics, thereby suppressing The Void (what follows this and what leads to his eventual awakening is a complicated storyline that I don't actually like).

Now, MCU is known for combining several events / storylines and even characters to simplify storytelling and keep plot lines familiar, yet still surprising. This makes me think that they will combine Carol Danvers' character with The Sentry's back story / powers.

This makes so much sense to combine them to give Danvers a better storyline as Danvers' most interesting trait was that Rogue absorbed her powers so much that she went to coma for years.

This, of course, Disney cannot use as they don't own rights to X-Men yet during Captain Marvel's production.

The Sentry's is an interesting storyline to use and a very expendable character who's not really as popular as the other Avengers. He can be sacrificed to make MCU Carol interesting, conflicted, and so darn powerful. After all, with all the SJW-ing happening over at Marvel and the society in general, we don't need another super strong white male.

Possibly, it could be The Ancient One who makes everyone forget in the MCU, but now that she's dead, her spell has weakened, Danvers will begin to remember that she's once the most powerful hero alive and come to the aid of The Avengers during Infinity War (which Feige says she wouldn't appear in, but we know this is not true, of course she'd make at least a cameo there).
Pretty excited to find out how they'd integrate Carol into the MCU. What do you guys think? Is my theory too far fetched?
