Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes was better than I expected.

Like the other Hunger Games movies, this film has some pretty strong libertarian themes, but of course its ultimate aim is providing a backstory for (Emperor) Coriolanus Snow, originally played by Donald Sutherland, but which in this is played by a kid named Tom Blyth, who was largely fine but forgettable.

Rachel Zegler is a good singer, but her attempt at a southern accent was inconsistent at best.

But I still actually did get into the relationship between the two of them and enjoyed the story itself. That said, I'd say that the film was easily 30 minutes longer than it needed to be and didn't really have a strong point to be made in the first place.
