Lowriders movie review

Me personally, I'm an old school guy. I like old school music, movies etc. - pretty much everything. And today I've watched this movie called "Lowriders" and I wanted to give my own review without reading any facts and articles about it anywhere, just watching it.

Pre-Watch
Before watching I already felt the old school atmosphere. The image, the name, all that stuff just yelled at me „Hey, I'm old school, watch me!" First I thought it's an old movie but it's atually really recent.

First Impressions
This is key. Key to anything, not only movies. But let's stick to them. When I watch a new movie I know nothing about, sometimes I stop after the first ~15 minutes just because it leads nowhere. This one was a part of that group but with the exception that I continued watching. All because my old school me was there in my brain saying „It's gonna be good man, come on, just keep watching." And I did just that.

Deeper in the movie

So the beginning is really boring, confusing and it leads nowhere. But from the point when Ghost a.k.a. Francisco appears, the real movie starts. The love he shows to his brother and the hate he shows to his dad is sad and amazing at the same time - just a pure example of many families out there.

Ending

To get the drama to an even higher level and the beef get even rougher, Ghost's dad wins the contest. Just from the view of Ghost you can tell he ain't gonna leave it just so and he is gonna get his revenge. So he does but takes it too far - shoots his father. That's messed up but when you think about the stuff he lets us know about their relationship, especially in the past 8 years, you can understand he had his reasons. His dad luckily survives and gives his second son a new car to bring back together. When he comes back home from the hospital and sees the result he is more than happy. I mean, his son did a really great job getting that rod into shape in such an amount of time. Later Ghost talks to his dad and forgives him in the cost of getting caught by the cops and being sent to prison. The ending, in my opinion, was the best part. It was just flawless, calm, no crazy action and stuff. I liked that a lot.

Overall thoughts
Though this is one of those movies I'll just watch once and forget about, it was good. Not awesome but good. I think the purpose of the movie isn't to be special but rather to give some lesson and it does that perfectly. After watching you just feel that vibe and love towards your family even more for a moment and automatically start thinking about how much you love your parents.
So on a scale of 0-10 I'd rate this 7 and recommend it. Let me know what you think about it!
