This should have been called The Hunt for a Russian Accent because Sean Connery, as Soviet sub commander Marko Ramius, seems to make no attempt at one. Instead, he sticks with his native Scottish accent which seems very out of place.
I love how this VHS edition is red, instead of the usual standard black plastic. Every once in a while, movies would be released on VHS and be colour-coordinated with the film's title, as in this case. I don't have too many that are not black, so this one really stands out.
Connery's lack of Russian accent aside, I remember liking this movie even though I don't remember much about it. It's been too long since I've seen it. The last time was probably when I watched this VHS copy when I first bought it.
The movie has a stellar cast, besides Connery. It also stars Alec Baldwin, Scott Glenn, James Earl Jones, Sam Neill, Jeffrey Jones, Tim Curry and Stellan Skarsgård, to name a few.
If you've never watched it before, I recommend you do.
Heh, Connery was a strange choice. Harrison Ford was always my favorite Jack Ryan, but Baldwin did all right here. I haven't watched these Tom Clancy movies in a while, but Patriot Games was the best of them.

Yeah, Harrison Ford is pretty much my favourite anything.
Connery was in another Russia-centered movie but this time it was Michelle Pfeiffer who played the Russian and she did a much better job with the accent in The Russia House.
