I kinda made myself laugh at...well...myself.

I was recommending Dark City to a good friend, and I almost frantically clarified that she absolutely needed to watch the Director's Cut.

This is still one is those weird movies that was great from the beginning, while still suffering from the studio treating the audience like a bunch of morons who couldn't place things together without voice over. The Director's Cut respected us enough to just tell the story.

This is the only case where I so fervently push the Director's Cut on people. In fact, I usually find myself preferring theatrical cuts.

Even with the flaws of the theatrical cut, Roger Ebert regarded it as the best film of 1998, which it was. The flaws that were corrected after the fact made it even better.
