2018's Oscars was given away just two weeks ago, and everyone already forgot about them. I decided to check out this year's premieres and predict which of them can get an nomination or even an award next year.

FIRST MAN, third movie of Damien Chazelle, director of La La Land and Whiplash. Academy seems to like this guy (say nothing of 2017's Best Picture) but is he able to handle movie about Neil Armstrong, first man on the moon, instead of music-based drama? Ryan Gosling and Claire Foy can also win some awards in actor's categories.

BACKSEAT, directed by Adam McKay. In this case, most likely Christian Bale will get an nomination, for his role as Dick Cheney. He get from 80kgs to almost 120kg for this role! There are also Amy Adams in the cast.

BOY ERASED is a chance for Lucas Hedges to get second nomination. Based on story of gay boy, who is forced by his parents (Nicole Kidman and Russel Crowe) to attend a special therapy, which is supposed to "heal" him from his orientation.

THE FAVOURITE, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, whose "The Killing of the Sacred Deer" was omitted by the Academy this year. In 2016 he got just nomination for Lobster's screenplay. Is there any chance that Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz in the cast will change that? Or maybe setting story in early 18th England was a good idea? Can't wait to find out.

THE DEATH AND LIFE OF JOHN F. DONOVAN is new Xavier Dolan's movie. He never get any Oscar's nomination, therefore he was always appreciated at Cannes Festival. His new piece is also his english debut, and in cast there are bunch of stars, like Natalie Portman, Kit Harrington, Adele or Jacob Tremblay. Jessica Chastain was supposed to be here too, but Dolan decided to cut her entire role from the movie.

WILDLIFE is directorial debut of actor Paul Dano, and tells a story of child witnessing his parents' marriage falling apart. Not much more is known, but maybe finally Jake Gyllenhaal gets new nomination.

IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK is new Barry Jenkins' movie, director of Moonlight. It is based on a James Baldwin's novel, set in Harlem, so nomination for Best Picture is really likely.

MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS is probably gonna give Saoirse Ronan her fourth nomination (and she is only 23 now) and maybe second one for Margot Robbie.
