Real. That's one word that comes to mind when trying to review this movie. All the performances from the entire cast felt real and grounded in reality. This isn't a movie just about gangsta rap music, it's about a group of friends going through struggles of the music industry and racial relations and having their friendships tested. I normally don't listen to rap hip-hop or rap music but I found myself jamming to these songs and blasted 2pac and Dr. Dre's "California Love" on the way home from the theatre. This film was released at the perfect time because the issues that N.W.A faced in the late 80's and early 90's are issues being dealt with today. Police brutality, contract fraud and rap feuds just like Drake and Meek Mill. This is a well-made and well-acted movie that got me a little emotional at some parts. I really enjoyed it. Even if you are not a fan of rap music, give it a shot. It's a good one!
