I was in the DA's office as a prosecutor for 5 years and a criminal defense attorney for over 10 years. I have worn both hats so I understand the issues. Bad cops, good cops, violent cops, racist cops, caring cops. I have seen them all up close. This film tried to show the complexity of the problem without making simplistic cardboard characters. It was not black and white which tends to be the problem with many films. It also delt with the horror of losing a loved one to violence.
