Special movie scenes part 4: feel free to share your favorite ones!

in movies •  6 years ago  (edited)

Every movie fan have seen some movie/series scenes that either due to its intensity or excitement, can be considered as special ones.

The goal with this type of posts is for us to share those scenes that we thought were really something else, and provide a little bit of background so everyone can understand what is happening in the scene, and why it is special.

Today’s scene is from the well known movie Gatsby.

A writer and wall street trader, Nick, finds himself drawn to the past and lifestyle of his millionaire neighbor, Jay Gatsby. Source

SCENE

This scene happens immediately after Di Caprio's character (Gatsby) finally reunites with Carey Mulligan's character (Daisy). They were together a long time ago, and Gatsby is finally ready to meet her again to see if he can get her back, after a kind of awkward moment, they finally break the ice and start to chat and after a while, the scene I just shared starts to roll.

What I like about this scene is the fantasy-like look and how Lana del Rey’s song starts to play very gently as the different moments start to unfold. Apart from the scene, I also enjoyed how Tobey Maguire’s character relates the entire story from the very beginning of the movie, until its tragic end.

This one came straight into my mind after reading your post! Shooting Dogs (2005), a really powerful film with some incredible dialogue scenes. It's set during the Rwandan genocide, in a school where UN peacekeepers are posted so they harbour Tutsi people there for their protection.

In this scene Fr. Christopher finally breaks and lashes out at the UN commander for not doing anything about the slaughter, and from it comes the title of the film so I won't ruin it in case you haven't seen... It's a great moment, a great performance, and part of a brilliant script.
