Jeremy Renner's James, a complex soul,
A "redneck" cowboy, with heart of gold.
The film's authenticity, a journalist's eye,
Mark Boal's insight, a story to the sky,
Yet, criticized by veterans, for inaccuracies told,
A nuanced narrative, of war's complexities to unfold.
The Hurt Locker, an anti-war drama, some may say,
But Bigelow's direction, emphasizes action's sway,
Tension and suspense, over politics' might,
A consummate professional, in James's character, takes flight.
The cinematography, a work of art,
