Thoughts on Blade Runner 2049?steemCreated with Sketch.

Based on the recent news that WB is pulling the movie sooner than expected: http://www.showbiz411.com/2017/10/21/hollywood-ending-big-studios-cutting-losses-this-weekend-pulling-flops-from-theaters-earlier-than-usual

I thought this movie was an amazingly well written, acted and shot film.  It's getting unfairly hammered in the box office against some garbage competition(https://www.rottentomatoes.com/browse/in-theaters/).  I haven't been lost in a movie world and scenery this much since watching The Martian and Avatar.

Gosling's performance so well matched the emotional roller coaster that is a prevalent theme in the original novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.  It's a shame the public argument between studio marketing and the director is now pressing to the forefront.  Everyone should see this movie before it leaves theaters.  People might not have known what to expect, but anyone familiar with the franchise or novel is going to love this movie.  If you haven't seen it in theaters, get out there before it's too late.

What's everyone else think?

I rated this movie a solid 5.5 out of 10. Probably would have been a higher score if I really enjoyed the original but the plot just wasn’t engaging for me. My score is what it is because the visuals and sound were great in the Dolby Cinema where I saw it in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

Yeah, it was a bit long for the lack of pacing it had. But as a hardcore scifi fan, it was one of the best explorations into a replicant's thought process and pretty heart wrenching performance when K's hopes and dreams of being born and having a soul are dashed. Very similar feel to Ex Machina but coming to the exact opposite conclusion of whether machines are capable of love/empathy.

I think that this movie will get some of the credit it deserves in the digital/streaming market. It's a shame that more people will probably end up seeing Geostorm in theaters than BladeRunner 2049. Maybe a limited run of the original Bladerunner before it's release could have helped spark some interest.

I could see that happening, but whatever they do, the marketing firm that handled the release should not touch it.
