Romantic Comedies typically aren't things that boys say that they're proud to enjoy. There is an exception to this rule, in my personal case. Mr. Right is a romantic comedy that boys, and girls, alike can enjoy with absolutely no shame, because it is also an action film. Comedy, check. Guns and shootouts, check. Pretty girl front and center, check.
The film stars Anna Kendrick and Sam Rockwell who play an awkward couple who meet in a convenience store. They start an awkward relationship after Rockwell pleads for a chance. Kendrick plays the role of crazy excellently, no matter what film she does it in, and Mr. Right is no exception.
Initially, you think you're in for an awkward hour and a half of romantic comedy, but it quickly becomes apparent that Rockwell is involved in dealings violent and dangerous.
This is where the bulk of the film takes place. We switch between action, romantic comedy and awkward giggling, excellent one liners; and then we swivel full circle back to well choreographed action sequences again. It is the perfect Romantic Comedy to enjoy when you don't want something serious, but want something seriously entertaining.
The only thing that lets you down are the villains. They're very cookie-cutter, and you get the impression that the writers focused so much on the good guys having great dialogue that they could almost get away with casting two blokes off the street to grunt and mumble words about how they want to kill everyone, or whatever it was they wanted to do.
Oh, that's right, they wanted to kill Sam Rockwell's character. It is a good thing that they don't succeed in this venture early in the film, because he cracks jokes to Kendrick about all the men he's killed while he ducked outside for a chat with one of the lads.
It is a film that won't change your life, but will adsorb ninety five minutes that won't feel completely wasted. I'd give it 10/10 as a Romantic Comedy, but probably 3/10 as an actual film. You need to know what you're in for.
Pretend you thought it was a straight romcom for bonus points.

Its a good, fun film. Not ground breaking cinema, but definitely an enjoyable watch! I've watched it a few times now, it is just honest, good entertainment.
