The Lightyear film introduces two new characters, a woman named Hawthrone, and Buzz's robot cat named E.R.I.C. It's still unknown who will play the two characters, and whether any other new characters will be introduced. Lightyear will tell the origins of the character Buzz Lightyear. However, this time Buzz is not present as a toy, but is told as a space ranger.
This new trailer reveals more details of the film's plot. As it turns out, Buzz must save another human trapped on an alien planet ruled by robots. In addition, we are also shown the main villain in the film, Zurg, who gets a design change. Zurg is Buzz's arch nemesis who is actually a parody of Darth Vader from the Star Wars franchise.
The new Lightyear will be released in June 2022 in theaters.
