What is your favorite movie of all times?

in movies •  7 years ago

When asked this question, I always say "Top Gun" but honestly I'm a huge fan of "Gladiator". Was the first movie I saw with my wife in the theater, and I really love the story. It's a bit depressing though and I hate sad endings.

I always liked Russell Crowe, he is fun to watch. Later I found out he is an asshole in real life. I always hate hearing about my favorite celebrities as they always turn out to be assholes.

"It was shit. But I'm the greatest actor in the world and I can make even shit sound good."
Russell Crowe - talking about Gladiator

I try not to pay attention actors these days and just watch movies I like. If you haven't watched Gladiator it is fantastic.

Couple other of my favorite movies:

  • 300
  • Ip Man
  • The Matrix
  • Almost Famous
  • A Knight's Tale

I tend to have a preference to Epic Movies, larger than life.

What's your favorite, and why?

My personal favorite movie of all time though would be Pompeii. Don't know if you've seen it @ipromote

And yes, knowing about celebrities' real lives most times ruins the admiration i have for them

I love all the lord of the rings movies. and all the Marvel movies.. and endless SCFI movies.

I'm not sure, I have a few but "Rad" from 1986 with Bob Allen was awesome!

I know a shit ton of movies, but never heard of that one.

If you like 80's movies you'll like Rad. The soundtrack is pretty awesome too.

RAD!!...total 80's classic!!..watched it heaps as a kid..(fyi its was Bill Allen)

Ha! These people don't know what they're missing!

My favourite movie - "MAD MAX :THE FURY ROAD".
I loved it because of its BGM,i got Goosebumps while i was watching it.Costume design & actions are excellent. In all characters,my favourites are NUX, and the guitar man. " WHAT A DAY, WHAT A LOVELY DAY" dialogue that thrills everyone whoever watches it.

Mine 2nd favourite is - "BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT"
A HERO wont become a SUPERHERO without a SUPER VILLAIN like "THE JOKER". Hats off to HEATH LEDGER for his marvelous performance.

Check out the Blood & Chrome version of Mad Max, black & white high definition. I hate black & white but it works wonders for this movie.

Yes , its really amazing in black & white version. I want to watch full movie in that version.thanks for information👍

There's no comparasion with "Hacksaw Ridge" in my opinion. The best real story ever.

I have that on my list to watch, just never got to it. I figured it was "just another war movie" didn't think it was a big deal. I always loved the movie "Enemy at the Gates".

Believe me it's not just another war movie for sure.

"Favorite movie" can really depend on my mood, so it varies.

But if I was forced to choose one (and I have been previously), I'd go with Raiders of the Lost Ark. Harrison Ford, Spielberg, popcorn action, and Nazis. You can't lose with that hand.

"Troy"

It's about the Trojan War and follows the Demi-God: Achilles. I've always been fascinated by Greek mythology and this one has been one of my go-to movies since I was 6 or so. Achilles is one of my favorite mythological figures, and I think the movie does him justice (for the most part).

I love Troy.

What's your favorite part? Mine is definitely when Achilles finally fights Hector due to the circumstances behind it alone.

I loved this scene and his style of fighting.

The little side-step neck stab. It was apparently a very effective move during the time this move took place.

I loved the fact that the movie didn't make Achilles look like the demi-god he was, but as a normal individual who just lived to fight.

I'm a huge fan of Greek mythology... Have you watched "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"? It's based on the Odyssey by Homer.

The entire scene is gold.

The comedy with Cloney? yeah.

For me, its

  • 3 Idiots

It is the most educative movie i have ever watched. In the movie, you could see the blend of Comedy and life lessons. It was just so epic. Through this movie, my believe in passion grew; a man's gift maketh room for him_... and this has driven me.

He was intelligent but poor, educated but in someone's name (he went to school but actually he wasn't schooling) Passion journeyed him to actualizing his dreams.

He school name was Ranchodas but his real name was Wangdu.

The 5th Element was beautifully done.

I hated that movie the first time, so weird. Then I wanted to watch it again, and I loved it. Seen it 4-5 times since then, there is now a 4K remaster which will likely be my next viewing.

I was going to comment 300 as well after seeing the title, but then i saw it in your post already.
Haven't seen the ipman though, will try to

My favourite movie with Russel Crowe is A beautiful mind. He is a great actor.

That movie gets me everytime. The soundtrack for A Beautiful Mind is amazing!

I cry every time I see it .titanic_movie-hd-1.jpg

I don't have a favorite movie but I do like the Terminator series ( Yes even the newer ones). So I was shocked to find out there was a short film made with the original cast as a sequel to Terminator 2.

Its called T2 - 3D : A battle across time. Check it out below :

https://steemit.com/review/@rentmoney/terminator-2-sequel-battle-across-time-3d

Gladiator was the first movie I did see on DVD!
Most favorite movie. Phew hard question to answer.
Maybe Moneyball!
Godfather 1.
And a really razy one Major League!

"It was shit"?! Hadn't heard that one before. I knew he was a conceited dude, so the "greatest actor" doesn't surprise me. But how the hell could Gladiator be considered shit?

I'm going to have to search for the original script to see if there were changes.

He was upset at the famous line

"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."

The greatest monologue outside of Any Given Sunday in movie history.

Well, if he was just referring to this line, it almost makes sense. I can definitely see someone delivering this line in a crappy way. But, hey, you hire actors so they bring the lines to life.

Hi @ipromote, It's good post about movies! I enjoyed your content. Keep up the good work.
It's always nice to see good content here on Steemit

Tu selección de películas me gusta mucho, le apunto también 7 pounds con Will Smith, realmente el personaje quiso enmendar su error y aunque el final el protagonista fallece creo que deja un mensaje de amor muy profundo.

I can't decide. It is like a tie between Braveheart, 300, Super Troopers, and Boondock Saints

Why? That's a difficult question really, but here's just a list of my favourite movies in no particular order.

Slumdog millionaire
Wolf of Wall Street.
Django unchained
Me, Earl and the dying girl.

-the godfather
-scarface
-forest gump
-12 angry men
-the painted veil
-incendies (crazy twist)

Wow, I can't believe you didn't list the green mile or Shawshank redemption! And I understand what you mean about sad endings. When I was young I used to hate them, but now I like them much more. Not everything can have a happy ending. Sad endings show us the realistic thing that can happen.

Highlander--A giant game by Immortals, who fight for a prize...Lots of parallels here. Great Sound track. Plus they chop each other's heads off with swords. All the while-- against a historic back drop of lifetimes lived.

Gladiator ---Don't have to explain this one.

Lord Of The Rings Trilogy---Epic kick-assory spanning multiple characters and lands. A ginormous dose of..."Good Guy's Win and Bad guys suck".

Legend---In our innocence or ignorance we stumble into the dark but that same innocence also makes room for us to step into the light. Basically an enchanted fairy tale of how good triumphs over evil.

Goonies---This should be an obvious one.

The Last Dragon---Marital Arts greatness with an old school soundtrack and glowing Kung Fu/Karate dudes. They have electric punches and it was made in the 80's.

I have way more than that but this is good for starters.

I have three movies that always i love it.

  1. Titanic :
about pure love and challenge to get it.

  2. 300
About war till the end tirany.

  3. Goals
About dreams come true with hard work

Thats so awesome movie for me until now

Terminator 2 has always been one of my favorites. The threat of the machines taking over was is such a horrifying thought.

My favourite documentary is still Idiocracy. It really shows off the human potential.

Hmmmmm awesome. Well as a typical Nigerian lady #smiles I really love to watch love movies.

It doesnt have to be a Nigerian movie, it could be American, Indian, Ghanian, Nigerian, Phillipines and so on. So far its all about love.

It just gives a feeling of been alive and thoughts that there's still a lot to live for.

Love is a beautiful thing, you know

The 10th Kingdom with John Larroquette, Fried Green Tomatoes and The Green Mile. Some of my favorites movies are narrated ones where someone starts off telling a story.

My favorite movies are a very haunted house, transformers, high school, city guards. How can you give cool and very funny comedies or movie parodies;)

if i must choose i will choose The matrix :)
that the cool one

The Empire Strikes Back for me. I also love the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Usual Suspects, Trainspotting, Fight Club, and I wish a bunch of my favourite video games were made into a movie lol

Extremely i go for spartacus it's a well realistic one

images (1).jpg

Scarface. Even if was not a good movie. The arguments grabs rapper's (and not rapper) mind

Game of throne. The movie takes one's mind away from earth and behind the wonder who the writer is.

Game of Thrones is a TV show.
