Robocop

In Detroit?

Maybe they should have made it Los Angles instead, both have high crime, but LA has the tech, just saying. Either way it is an interesting look at the future, which may be closer than we think. Big business running everything with minimal oversight.

In the not too distant future we have the new police department being run by corporations, hence for profit. So when they make a large crime fighting robot that doesn't quite have all the bugs ironed out they need to get back in profit.

This they manage to do by using a policeman that was "killed". They build him a new body, think of six million dollar man if you are old enough, but with a full body replacement. The new police officer is called Robocop, and of course attracts the attention of the local crime lord.

This movie is over the top, and very violent. Being a Hollywood movie no real surprise that the good guy wins. It is still worth watching, but not one of the must own movies.

Oversight by who? The government? Yup..that'll work just fine. The government is not the least bit corrupt. In fact we have the best government that money can buy.

It's not clear if this is RoboCop the original (back long time ago) or the re-boot just a while back. The reboot has a bot better CGI. It's pretty violet to. Somewhat less 'grains of salt' is needed to suspend disbelief when watching the reboot. (only a dumptruck in stead of a ocean tanker full).

Never said it should be the government. It was the original, not the reboot.

If it's not government, or corporate, what's left?
Yeah..the original was kind of cheesy. You might like the reboot better.
Lot's ...LOTS..better CGI.

That is the question. I will have to have a look at it.
