Rey is a Skywalker and a Kenobi

A major question after the release of Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens concerns the identity of Rey’s parentage. However good evidence suggests she is the granddaughter of both Anakin Skywalker and Obi-wan Kenobi. For this reason Rey was a powerful force user from an early onset.

Rey shows obvious signs that she’s a Skywalker. She even inherited the hair of her grandmother Padme Amidala. However she is not Han and Leia's child. Han did not recognize Rey when they met, but he was generous enough to offer her a job on the Millennium Falcon. When Rey met Leia, it’s evident they never met each other before either. Leia did not hug her like she would a daughter. However Leia instinctively knew who she was. She recognized that Rey was the daughter of her long lost brother. This explains why Leia sent her with Chewbacca to retrieve Luke once they located him on Ahch-To. Maz Kanata also gave Rey the light saber of Anakin Skywalker because she was the proper heir.

The childhood of Rey mirrors her grandfather Anakin. Rey inherited Anakin’s gift with machines and fixing things. The Skywalkers were good natured individuals with a knack for droid maintenance, vehicle repair, and vehicle handling. Rey fixed BB-8 at their first meeting, and Anakin built C-3P0. Rey performed an override on the compressor of the Millennium Falcon. During the heat of the moment she managed to save the hyper drive with everyone on board. Anakin re-routed energy to his engines during the dangerous Boonta Eve pod race and saved the day by winning the prize money.

Rey lived on a desert planet while awaiting her destiny. She wanted to see the galaxy, leave the planet to fly, and she waited for the return of her family. The Skywalkers were a slave to their lot in life, until a strange individual crossed their paths and saw that they share a mutually beneficial relationship which helped their cause. Anakin was pulled from a desert planet and drawn into a huge skirmish, similar to what happened to Luke and later Rey. They all grew up on desolate worlds without knowing who their fathers were. They were poor and supported themselves through humble means. They also had mysterious old men to protect and mentor them. They seemed unaware of their great powers and felt unable to change their situation. They left their home and learned that they are a part of something much larger than they know. They effectively changed the course of the galaxy and the lives of billions of people.

Obi-wan is Rey’s maternal grandfather. After Order 66 and the destruction of the Jedi Order, Obi-wan rejected his vow of celibacy. He no longer felt loyalty or an obligation to an order no longer in existence. So after Obi-wan hid Luke away on Tatooine, he decided to follow Anakin’s example and start a family of his own. Rey and Obi-wan are the only Light Siders who speak with a British accent. Everyone else with a British accent is a villain. Also Rey poked around on Starkiller Base, much like Obi-wan did on the first Death Star. While she was held captive, she also performed on the storm trooper the old Jedi mind trick that her grandfather had mastered. One must give Rey credit, even though it took her two tries.

Rey: "You will remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open."

Stormtrooper: "I will remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open."

Rey: "You will drop your weapon."

Stormtrooper: "I will drop my weapon."

So who did Obi-wan marry? With the future of the newborn Luke and Leia at stake, Obi-Wan questioned the will of the Force… until it guided him to a friend from the past. They worked together again and found answers to questions much larger than ones they thought to ask.

At the beginning, there was Padme and Sabé… little cousins only their parents could differentiate. They were mischievous little brunettes with too many terrible ideas. Padme became queen of Naboo and Sabé became decoy, bodyguard, and sometimes spy. Captain Panaka did not train fools, and Sabé was the brightest of his pupils.

While stranded on Tatooine, Obi-wan spent a lot of time hanging out on that shiny silver space ship with Sabé, who was pretending to be queen. He did not make any moves at that time, for he thought that was too improper. She was a queen and he a Jedi knight, and they did not know each other well. However he noticed she was attractive, and vice versa, and maybe by “accident” they played footsie under the table a couple times. After a while Obi-Wan discovered she was not the queen, but he kept that secret to himself. During the long wait Governor Sio Bibble contacted them by holo vid.

He said, “The death toll is catastrophic, we MUST bow to their wishes, you MUST contact me…”

She struggled to keep her face expressionless. Why did this have to happen? Naboo is a peaceful planet. What did we ever do to deserve any of this? She fixed her eyes upon the Jedi, Obi-wan. He looked at her and said, "It's a trick. Send no reply." He left the room while Sabé watched him. He seemed so sure of himself.

After they repaired their ship and returned to Naboo, they participated in the storming of the palace. Obi-Wan was upset that his master Qui-Gon died, and Sabé was saddened that she lost so many of her people. However one thing led to another, and they parted ways when Obi-wan went off to train the young Anakin as his padawan.

During the Clone Wars, Obi-wan developed a relationship with his love interest Satine Kryze. However in war strange things happen and she was executed in front of his eyes by Darth Maul. Before she died, Obi-wan confessed to her.

He said, “Had you said the word, I would have left the Jedi order.”

Anakin developed a strong attachment to Padme. When Anakin grew, he and Padme got married in secret and conceived a set of twins. However Anakin joined the Dark Side and became Darth Vader. Around the same time, Padme passed away after giving birth. Although a medical droid claimed she lost the will to live, some mysterious dark magic drained the life force out of her. Afterwards Obi-wan thought it best to separate the newborn twins, whom Padme named Luke and Leia. After Obi-Wan hid Luke away with his family on Tattooine, he flew back to Naboo to mourn Padme's death. At Padme's grave, he saw Sabé for the first time in years and the two reunited in excitement. Over a short period of time their friendship slowly transformed into a romance.

Obi-wan and Sabé soon got married. They had a daughter, whom they named Mara Jade Kenobi. She became strong in the Force, although she was never trained. Luke developed an interest in Mara Jade because she was the daughter of his beloved mentor. After the fall of the empire and the deaths of Darth Vader and the emperor, Luke began a new school to train and build up a New Jedi Order. So he began a recruitment of force sensitive individuals throughout the galaxy. During this time Luke gave Mara Jade some training with a light saber. They later married and bore their daughter Rey, whom they raised in secret. She developed a striking resemblance to her grandmothers Padme and Sabé.

However one of Luke’s pupils was his nephew Ben Solo, son of Leia and Han Solo. The mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke hid near the Jedi school in a cave and sensed much anger in this young boy. Snoke was the Sith no one knew existed. Snoke sought to feed off the chaos and confusion by forcing the New Republic into a war. Ben felt empty inside and had no identity of his own. Snoke convinced Ben to join the Dark Side by offering to teach him more about Darth Vader. In a fit of rage, Ben killed all of the Jedi school while Luke Skywalker was away.

Then Ben joined the newly formed First Order and took the name Kylo Ren. After Luke discovered what happened, he performed a Jedi mind trick on his young daughter to block her memories. Then he sent his wife and daughter away to the desert world of Jakku, and he asked his trusted friend Lor San Tekka to watch over and protect them. Luke went into hiding and gave his friend a map to give the only clue to his whereabouts. Luke believed his father Anakin was the Chosen One who brought balance to the Force by destroying the emperor. With the emergence of Supreme Leader Snoke, Luke called this view into question. So he went to the first Jedi temple at Ahch-To to see where this prophecy originated.

"This is not the plot twist you’re looking for."

However Mara Jade believed in the empire, and she joined the First Order to advance that ideology and system of rule. So she abandoned her daughter on Jakku and took the alias of Phasma. She soon rose through the ranks and became responsible for training storm troopers and brain washing them with First Order propaganda. For this reason, the storm troopers of the First Order were trained to use light saber resistant weapons. She built her armor out of a wrecked Naboo star ship that once belonged to Emperor Palpatine.

Her soldiers fulfill a mothering role for Captain Phasma in a rather perverted way. She told her soldiers their loyalty should be to the First Order, first and foremost. They also should be willing to die for their cause. Captain Phasma though was a hypocrite and did not truly believe what she preached. Just like other Dark Siders, her loyalty was to herself and no one else. Captain Phasma was a thug in every sense of the word. When Kylo Ren and the First Order attacked the villagers on Jakku to find the map to Luke Skywalker, she was an accomplice in the murder of Lor San Tekka.

Captain Phasma sensed her daughter’s presence on the Starkiller Base after she awakened to the Force. This happened after Kylo Ren undid the mind trick Luke performed on her by trying to read her mind. So Captain Phasma lowered the shield around Starkiller Base for Han Solo and Finn without a fight to ensure her daughter's escape. Han Solo did not feel like killing her, so he opted to throw his sister-in-law down a garbage chute. However Captain Phasma escaped from the garbage chute and boarded a spacecraft before the Starkiller Base exploded. Fortunately for her the security footage of her lowering the shield was destroyed, because otherwise the First Order would have executed her.

Captain Phasma says, “Luke Skywalker never told you about your mother… I am your mother.”

Rey found peace when she discovered her father once again. Now she is beginning to ask questions about her mother. However Captain Phasma will return as the ultimate baddie, and Rey will try to hunt her down. Just like Luke’s father was Darth Vader, Rey’s mother is the kind of evil she seeks to destroy. When her mother reveals her identity, it will hit Rey like a ton of bricks.

The Skywalkers are the fulfillment of the ancient Jedi prophecy to bring balance to the Force. Darth Vader destroyed the Jedi order. Likewise Anakin Skywalker killed Darth Vader and his master Darth Sidious in an act of ultimate redemption. After the Battle of Endor Luke was the last Jedi, but a Sith still lurked in the shadows.

At Ahch-To Luke discovered the true meaning of the Jedi prophecy. When the Skywalkers put their hearts and minds together, the seed of Anakin will obliterate Darth Plagueis and thus destroy the Sith. They bring balance to the force by eradicating the cancer that plagues the galaxy. Then the Skywalkers raise an entire generation of new Jedi and bring a new era of peace.
