I'll admit, Netflix has been pissing me off lately even though my name is Netflixr and one of my logos proclaims my love for Netflix. The reasons why they have been pissing me off are varied and something I will get into in some detail at a later date. For now I am giving them time to change their ways / hope they are interested in not losing all their customers.
Anyway, there are some good releases for early February even though most of them, people have probably already seen them.
Inception

I somehow managed to not see this film in theaters because of reasons I do not remember. When I watched it a year later in my own house I was kicking myself for that choice. I guess they didn't advertise it in a way that appealed to me but as it turns out they were advertising it in a way to not give away the story - which is a real problem with trailers these days - they give away the entire story in 2 minutes.
Inception is a masterpiece IMO and is one of the few films that I think Leo was actually the correct choice for the lead.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Why they waited until now to release this is beyond me. It is just another one of those reasons why Netflix has been pissing me off lately. They released all sorts of garbage Xmas films in December but wait until NOW to release one of the best ones? Who's running that place? Monkeys? I am sure it was a financial decision because much like Xmas wrapping paper and tinsel, the price on these things goes Waaaaay down after January.

So the story here is a couple of kids find a board game and decide to play it, each time their little person moves on the game board a card gets spit out of the game and then crazy magical stuff starts happening right in their living room! What an original concept huh? I bet no one has ever done something like this before.... well, I mean other than Jumanji of course which was released 7 years earlier.
This is an obvious storyline ripoff from Jumanji but it is actually pretty funny and a lot had changed with CGI between 1995 and 2002. Jon Favreau was the director and one of my favorite comedic actors Dax Shepard (who I really wish would be featured in more films) is in it. So even though it is stupidly predictable and is essentially the same thing as Jumanji, it is still worth seeing.
Unfortunately out of the 20 or so movies they are dropping on us in early Feb those are the only ones I can really recommend. Shutter Island is getting dropped but I thought that movie was dumb and predictable - it was meant to have this amazing twist but I saw that shit coming in the first 20 minutes or so. Beverly Hills Ninja, despite having one of my favorite now deceased comedians in it, flat out sucks because you can only poke fun at the fact that Chris Farley is fat so many times before it isn't funny anymore.
So there you have it. Get out there and see these three if you haven't seen them already or even if you have.
