Disney is well-known for its fairy tales where the princesses live happily ever after. Enchanted explore this age-old trop in a hilarious way.
Giselle live in the enchanted land of Andalasia. Like all princesses, she hope to meet Prince Charming and live her happily everafter. Sadly for her, the Evil Queen sends her where there to no such thing: New York City...
Whoever said that Disney doesn't have a sense of humor? This is probably their funniest production to date (even though it was produced 15 years ago). Giselle is hilarious in NYC. She retains her light-hearted naïveté even though people are less than pleasant. When confronted, she openly admits that marrying someone just after meeting is normal when you know it's the one. And of course, she bursts into songs, cleans up with "pests" (rats, pigeons) and makes dresses out of curtains.
Speaking of him, Prince Edward is hilariously narcissistic and full of himself. Like Giselle, it takes him too much time to figure out his mother's evil plan. He also has a much harder time to adapt to NYC, seeing everyone as an inferior.
In short, this movie is definitely worth a watch. It's a hilarious thought to think what would happen if the fairy tale world and the real world collided. Too bad it was tarnished by an inferior sequel...
