Black Panther makes superhero movies history by winning three Oscars. And most importantly not for visual effects or something comic booky. It won three legit awards putting Marvel ahead of DC. DC has two comic book movie Oscars: Suicide Squad won an Oscar for Makeup and Hairstyling and The Dark Night won Best Supporting Actor for Heath Ledger. Now Black Panther won three awards: Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Score) (Ludwig Göransson), Best Achievement in Costume Design (Ruth E. Carter) and Best Achievement in Production Design (Hannah Beachler and
Jay Hart). Let's be honest it deserved an award for these categories. I also think that it should have won best original song, but Lady Gaga is a hard one to defeat. Kevin Feige got his wish to walk on the Oscars red carpet.
However, I don't think that Kevin Feige should get used to it. If he had hopes of replicating the success of Black Panther with Captain Marvel, I don't think it will happen, despite Brie Larson being an Oscar winner. There is too much hate around the movie. This hate makes the movie not feel like a cultural event like Black Panther. Also, nothing on the Marvel horizon screams awards. However, one may never know. Venom looked like it was made to be an awards movie. Until we saw the trailers and realized what we were getting from that amazing cast.
I don't know what the future holds, but probably just best visual effects nominations.

I think Beale Street should have won for the original score. And Shallow was impossible to defeat. But I really didn't understand the nomination for Best Picture. That seemed political. This film was certainly not the best Marvel has produced. It was slow and choppy at times.

I didn't see Beale Street, but it's hard to imagine better. Shallow is such a midiocore song that I just don't get it. I think it deserved to be nominated, I don't think it was slow or choppy, and it really meant something more to some people. Marvel deserves a lifetime achievement Oscar for their cinimatic universe.
