After 11 years Scarlett Johansson Black Widow is finally getting the respect she deserves. Her own solo movie. For everyone who doesn't believe it until it happens, the movie started filming a few days ago in Norway.
The movie has interesting people working on it behind the scenes. Cate Shortland ( Berlin Syndrome) will be directing the movie, making for another director to jumped from horror to superhero. Ned Benson wrote the screenplay who hasn't written anything but Eleanor Rigby trilogy so he is untested in my opinion. Scarlett Johansson herself is a producer on the movie, making her the first actor in the MCU to produce their own movie.
There has also been some interesting casting choices made for this movie. Florence Pugh from Fighting with My Family has joined the cast and so did Rachel Weisz. Yes, the same Rachel Weisz who says she hates blockbusters and refused to appear in them since her role in the Mummy movies. David Harbour has also been cast fresh off his Hellboy failure. Interesting casting choices, we probably won't know about which MCU actor will cameo in her movie until fairly close to the release of the movie.
We don't know anything about the plot of the movie. It is easy to assume that it is a prequel. But is it though? Scarlett Johansson isn't wearing de-aging dotes and her hair is red and long in the few paparazzi photos from her set so maybe she somehow survive Endgame. The most common theory is that this movie takes place right after Captain America: Civil War, which I doubt since she doesn't have blond hair in the movie.
Another to watch for is the release date. Marvel reserved a few dates for the next coming years, but May 2020 seems like it will Black Widow as her movie will be the only one ready in time as it has already started filming.
So things are really starting to take shape for Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow.
