Charlie's Angels (2019) – Movie Review

So, this was a surprisingly fun movie. I heard so many bad things about it that I was prepared to be very bored. But I was not. This movie had me and my friends' attention from the opening scene.

The movie was written, directed and produced by Elizabeth Banks who also plays one of the Bosleys in this movie. Patrick Stewart and Djimon Hounsou also play a Bosley. Kristen Stewart plays angel Sabina Wilson and Ella Balinska plays angel Jane Kano. The two angels are assigned to protect Elena Houghlin (played by the wonderful Naomi Scott), who has developed a power source for the company that she works in, that could be turn into a weapon. Sam Claflin plays the boss of said company and he is refreshingly douchey in this movie. This is basically a small scale spy movie with lots of predictable plot twists that were still fun. This is just a fun movie. I actually laughed out loud a lot.

But yeah, this movie is made by women for women. There are just so many small things in this movie that only women will get. Plus, there are barley any men in this movie, and when they are on screen, they barley have any lines. It was actually something that you notice as I usually this happening to women in cinema. The angels have ton of tricks up their sleeves and a ton of style while their doing it. Heck I want that closet with all those fabulous clothe and amazing wigs. They are also not superheroes. They get hurt, they get hit and the movie shows that is hard to take out a big men single handily. But boy do they look good when they do their thing. Also, the locations that the movie takes place in are great. This movie looks amazing in almost every frame.

Surprisingly, the biggest standout is Kristen Stewart. The actress who has been accused of having one facial expression is totally unhinged in this movie. You can tell she is having a blast making this movie, as much as I had watching her in this movie. She is sexy, fun and badass in this movie. She also gets the best wigs and costumes and I couldn't take my eyes off of her during the movie. She needs to do more fun action in her future career, she will be a perfect fit.

If you are going to see the movie, make sure you stay until the end because the middle credit scenes has some totally awesome cameos. Maybe they shouldn't have been kept a secret to bring more people to watch the movie.

I wish we would get a sequel for this movie, but since it bombed at the box office, we won't be getting one. This movie has been put under the label of "if you go WOKE you go broke", but I don’t see it like that. Maybe because as a woman this movie was made for me, but I had a total blast watching it.

It is not a must see at the cinema. This is not a masterpiece. There are no big over the top action scenes or anything of that sorts. You can wait to stream it. Get a bear, some homemade popcorn and candy, get some friends to watch with you and have a good time. It is just a good time feel good movie in my opinion. For the ladies at least.
