Matt Reeves' "The Batman" is starting to Take Shape

The Batman which will be directed and co-written by Matt Reeves (director of War for the Planet of the Apes and its sequel) will be a first movie of a new Batman trilogy that will introduce not only Robert Pattinson as a new young Batman, but also all of his Rogue's gallery. Rumors suggest that this movie will be based on Batman: The Long Halloween comic storyline.

I know that many are unhappy with the casting of Robert Pattinson as the new Batman, but don't forget that WB was aiming young, and that the role is a career risk. I mean being Batman literally destroyed Ben Affleck's careers so a lot of actors don't want to take this risk, plus most actors prefer to avoid DC generally. Considering how awesome Kristen Stewart was in Charlie's Angels I expect nothing less from Robert Pattinson. It's been more than a decade since Twilight, I think we can start letting that go.

But this movie does seem to be shaping up to be on the more on the teen side. Zoë Kravitz (X-Men: First Class, Divergent) will be the new Catwoman. That is a little concerning as I only saw her in movies directed at teens and she wasn’t really good or outstanding in any of them. Catwoman should be outstanding. I was not expecting Andy Serkis (forever Gollum, Planet of the Apes trilogy) to be the new Alfred Pennyworth, this is a really interesting casting choice. So is Jeffrey Wright (Westworld, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay), as Commissioner Gordon. He is just such a brilliant actor, I am sure that he will be great in this role as well. Colin Farrell (The Lobster, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) is rumored to be the new Penguin. Sure he doesn't look the part, but Farrell is a great actor who is totally underappreciated. Paul Dano (12 Years a Slave, Okja) will be Edward Nashton version of the Riddler. And the newest casting announcement is that John Turturro (Barton Fink, The Night Of) will be playing Carmine Falcone, bringing the crime family to the big screen.

Some of these casting choices are brilliant and some just show that DC can barley get actors to be in their movies.

What do you think about how this movie is shaping up? So I far I feel rather indifferent. I am not excited or dismissive. I need to see more.
