Rocket Man was directed by Dexter Fletcher and stars Taron Egerton as the legendary Elton John. It also stars Jamie Bell playing songwriter Bernie Taupin, Bryce Dallas Howard as Sheila - Elton's mother and Richard Madden (Robb Stark for you Game of Thrones fans) as John Reid. Here is an interesting trivia facts for you, John Reid was played by Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger on Game of Thrones) in Bohemian Rhapsody, too bad that too different studies made the movie, otherwise they could have used the same actor. This movie had everything a movie should have, great performances, great music and a story bigger than life that is worthy of the big screen.
IMDB describes the movie as a "musical fantasy" and I think it is an accurate description. It does and does not play out like a typical biographical movie. It is more like half a biography and half a musical. The plot is made to fit the songs so don't expect the songs to appear in a chronologic order in the movie. It does lend itself to the fantastical elements of the movie. It is just small moments, but trust me you notice them, they are there to emphasize the importance of some events in Elton's life.
The movie follows Elton John from his early childhood to the late 80s. We get to see how incredibly talented he really was from the start. The movie also focuses a lot on his personal life, and his family life. How much damage they caused him, and how he overcame the odds.
It’s easy to forget that he has his happily ever after when you watch the trailer. He is married with two children and has been sober for almost 30 years. I would say that is the major downside of the movie. It is an amazing movie, but it focuses on the negative too much, while the positive gets a small titles after the movie with some information in it. Also, the movie ends in the 80s which means that a lot of important career milestones are left out of the movie.
Taron Egerton does amazing work in this movie. We all know that he is a great singer from Sing where he sang I'm Still Standing by Elton John, what a small world. Yes, the singing in the movie is his, not an Elton John voiceover. Egerton is a fantastic underappreciated actor. He isn't physically similar to Elton John, but he does his best too look like him and the result is fantastic and his performance is electrifying. Everyone does a great job in this movie, but this is Egerton's movie.
I think it is a very cinematic movie. Definitely worth seeing on the big screen with a really good sound system.

Hey, I love comics as well. I see that you favor Danvers even more. I loved the interaction between her and Rogue when they were brought together again after years had passed since rogue stole her powers.
I like talking nerdy stuff. It is an escape. Follow me and discuss stuff with me. You don't have to upvote me or anything. I don't ask for handouts. I just want some friends that will interact.
Like now. I have a post asking for comic book characters, so I can create a vote style tournament. I love stuff like that.
I'm new to this, and I'm trying soo hard.
