WINCHESTER Movie Review

First things first, when I watched this movie today, I had not seen the trailer so I had no idea what I was going to see. Of course, I knew it was a thriller or maybe a horror movie, simply by the cover poster displayed at the Theater but I had no previous notions on how it might be.

This is my first movie review and I PROMISE I will give no spoilers! Only my opinion and my thoughts on the movies hereafter...

IF you are a thriller, mystery, and/or suspense fanatic such as I am, you will appreciate the storyline of this movie. The 99-minute long movie starts off with a decent flow without giving away the true purpose of what will happen in the rest of the film. Before this movie, I had no real knowledge of the Winchester house and stories that came along with it; so when I initially saw the name Winchester, my mind went straight to the Netflix show #Supernatural, the ongoing series of two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester who live their life defeating evil spirits-- I was way off on that one! Anyway, the movie is PG-13, so it's not actually scary per say but it does have a few scenes that may make the sensitive jump. I personally did not recognize many of the actors and actresses, however, I give credit to where it is due.

After reading up on the articles and stories of the Haunted Winchester House, I must say in my opinion it was made well, but the movie itself could have been scarier since it is supposed to be about a Haunted House. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a rotten 13% in the Tomatometer, 4/10 and from the audience score: 41% say they liked it, which isn't very high. My ending thought: The critics who didn't enjoy it are digging way too far, when this movie just barely scraped the surface and is well, "Acceptable" making so far 9.3m in the Top Box Office.
