Get ready for a mind blowing selection from a true movie fanatic, with very poor social skills ( emphasize on poor ).
Now, without further adieu here's my list ( Helpful hint: keeps your socks when watching these films, or else they'll get knocked off for you ).
1.The Iceman (2012)
Just want to say, thank you Michael Shannon for this mouth opening performance. If you know Shannon, he has very cold and almost laid back type of performance.
"The Iceman" follows the life of Richard Kuklinski, a well known contract killer.
What did I think was different? Though Kuklinski is said to be a emotionless, cold blooded killer, he shows his soft side only in the presence of his 2 daughters and wife ( which is his only motivation for being a hitman in the first place).
The actor shows a wide range of emotions all while having the EXACT SAME FACE ( this guy could make a shit tone of money playing poker, I'm telling you ).
Kuklinski shows humility, loyalty for the people he works for, and at the same time has little respect for the same people.
What's even more amazing, until his capture years later, his family wasn't aware that his profession was remotely illegal. It's incredible to think that the film budget was only $10million.
2.Gone Girl (2014)
Hold on to your sphincter for some good ol' fashion, unaltered woman craziness.
Stand-up comedian Louis C.K. had a saying " boys fuck shit up, women...are fucked up".
Before you decide to cheat on your spouse, I encourage anyone to check this flick out. Ben Affleck, plays the poor sap who was unfortunate enough to have the libido of a unsnipped 1 year old schnauzer, all while being married to this delightfully deranged female (Rosamund Pike).
Rosamund Pike delivers a great performance, taking "hot and crazy" to a whole new meaning.
The film won several critics awards.
not so small spoiler for you ladies: u get to see Ben Affleck's penis for like 2 seconds ( also for you guys that like to compare it to your own limb - screw you don;t judge me, you do it too ).
3. Shot Caller (2017)
Our third runner up is absolute gold, and newly released.
Makes you think of Jaime Lannister from GOT in whole new different light.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau plays a unlucky guy that find himself in prison with the real criminals, after pleading guilty to manslaughter while drunk driving.
The most mind blowing ideas about this film - the continuous vicious circle that the character find himself in. Trying to find safety in prison, he has to get his hands dirty ( spoiler: some bootywhole carriage may be involved ).
The fact that the family man is serving a relative short sentence, and keeps on adding to it for doing awful things trying to stay alive puts him in the position of the ultimate sacrifice, beggin his family to move on.
Nikolaj really impressed me with his range and his ability to be "batshit terrifying" all while being a blue eyed pretty boy at the beginning of the film. Truly outstanding performance.
