If you saw my post about thee book "1001 movies you must see before you die". You'll know that I am atempting to watch all 1001 movies. This is my review of La souriante Madame Beudet (movie #11)

La souriante Madame Beudet

This is one of the first movies about feminism. There's a husband and a wife. The wife is in a loveless relationship. One day when the husband is away she decides to put pullets in his gun, he usualy pulls a prank when he pretends to commit suicide with the gun only there is no bullets in the barrel. She later regrets her decision and tries to fix it, but the gun gets pointed at her instead.

As a history into feminism I think this movie works quite well, but as something for me to sit down and enjoy watching it didn't do much for me. Not becuse it was about feminism but because of the story they molded together with it. Had the story been different but still about feminism i'm sure I would have found alot more enjoyment out of it.

Score: 5/10
