The Move : Final Days

in movinghouse •  7 years ago  (edited)

It's early Saturday morning and we are getting ready to do the final clean and clear the old house in time for vacate day Monday.

It's a day of mixed feelings which is confusing because I have looked forward to this day from the moment we moved in to the horror house.

I don't really know why either.

Maybe it's the closing of a chapter or the beginning of a new one that's making me feel this way.

At least I already know all the faults in this property. Our house however, is still revealing itself.

Regardless, as I sit here writing to you and having a smoke while I do, at 8:46am in the morning I can already hear one of the neighbors carrying on and a couple of dogs having a barking match.

Already it's reminding me of what we are leaving behind and although there are two roosters within a 5km radius of our new house (I can hear them from a distance away), it's still a far cry from the incessant dog barking I have been subjected to for the last almost 2 years.

Come take a walk with me while I say good bye to the house that protected and sheltered us.

We were very lucky with the house itself. Not often would one be able to move in to a 95% renovated house with brand new carpet and a brand new, never been used, renovated kitchen.

(The office ~ You guys have seen many shots of my office these few months, is it kinda weird to see the room bare?)

Some yard shots.
This was actually the main selling point of this house in the very beginning. That was until we realised we're completely under trees and we can't hang the washing outside because the birds will poop on it and spiders are EVERYWHERE.

I've squished two crawling on me since I began writing this...

And this is one of my fave garden statues. There is also a stone Koala somewhere in the bushes.

And this is load 1 of a possible 3 loads left.

3 more loads before this is finally all done

I can't believe we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with this house and after 30 minutes of being here and hearing the neighbors and the dogs, I'm happy to say my mixed feelings is gone.

I can't wait to be done with this place.

That said. I have faced many, many challenges in this house and I am thankful for all of them because I'm a more determined, focused and stronger person for it.

Wish us luck today. I really don't want to come back tomorrow.
