When it comes to tv show or movie, it just makes good publicity to bitcoin and altcoin (I mean from popular franchise, you'll find on the market action figures for both the heroes and the baddies... so it doesn't really matter). This is good because it brings attention to the public to crypto.

Lol actually ecoins is funny in the current context with bitfinex issuing its own coin after they've been hacked.
The problem considering it is a distopian universe, I am not really sure that people (not aware of bitcoin) realize that cryptocurrencies and bitcoins really exist.
