Another Chainsaw Lessons Learned

in msp-waves •  6 years ago

So.....I ran into another issue using the chainsaw I wanted to share. The gas mix I was using must've gotten too old, and it caused my chainsaw to run pretty awful then cut out on me. I drained out all the old gas, and just went through the process to re-mix. I learned it is suggested to use gas that is less than 6 weeks old. In all small engines I run I look for non ethanol gas to put in the machines.

To start I determined that the Husqvarna uses a 50:1 mix ratio of 2 cycle oil. I was mixing in a 1 gallon container so this ratio worked out to be round 2.8oz.

I then added a gallon of the fresh gas to the oil, and shook up the container.

I finished off the mix with the recommended amount of stabil to the mix.

Stabil can help remove water and help prevent corrosion.

Moral of the story and lesson learned. Always try to use fresh non-ethanol gas and the proper ratio of 2-cycle oil in your chainsaw.

Thanks for checking out the post, and hope it helps someone avoid my mistakes.

I've got a great guest lined up tomorrow who is going to share his experience mentoring a High School FIRST robotics competition.
Tune in tomorrow on MSP-WAVES Meadows and Makers from 5-7pm UTC or 1-3pm EST http://mspwaves.com/home/listen/

Peace and Joy,
